It may be good to know that while Sir Isaac Newton disbelieved in the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity, he also most certainly did not believe that Jesus was divine. You could probably consider him more, let's say, Arian.

Modalistic Monotheism apparently isn't the only alternative to Trinitarian thought.

No, Sir Isaac wasn't the only one. Read Isaac Watts, William Penn, etc... and many during this time questioned the Trinity

Great find! Thanks for linking this Bible. I've been looking for something like this. Now, if I could only find a KJV interlinear with margins, I would be set. I find that a lot of my notes simply reference what the Greek says. To be honest, I don't even really need the maps or concordance included in my Bible since I usually have a more comprehensive concordance or a biblical atlas nearby. But that's okay. Just having more reasonable margin design is a big plus. Thanks again!

I too have noticed the discrepancy in Rev. 21:5-8. Why, though, do publishers not have these particular words of Christ in red, especially as it is without a doubt He that is speaking? Have you done any research into that? Why is that?
Thank you so much for this post!

<p>Hmmmm... New Living Translation? I'm reviewing a NLT for Tyndale right now. It's pretty nice. One that I've been reading lately is ESV. So far I like it a lot. My favorite is KJV, then NKJV. I've read the KJV for close to 30 years now. It's just what I'm used to. I do like to read other versions because it helps to shed light on difficult passages. Sometimes we don't always understand what a verse fully means because some words can be translated in more than one way.</p>

I haven't read the NCV yet, but might give it a shot later.
Anyone want to know my favorite translation? Anyone?

Good review!

i was just doing some online family history stuff and came across your reference to the Dugan bible. My grandfather made and published those bibles and it put a smile in my heart to know that his hard work still blesses people even after being out of business for last ten years or so.

I have used a 6 color color coding system in the past. I now find myself using a classic notes bible (has a blank page between each page of scripture) to write out notes and my own commentary, as well as highlighting and a symbol coding system. It is a good thing which ever way you slice it, as long as your immersing yourself in God's Word!
God bless!
