The purpose of this site is to promote the core Biblical doctrines of the Apostolic faith and Bible study in general. Bible studies will include the major doctrines of:
Godhead
Salvation
Holiness
Gifts of the Spirit
Prophesy
Creation
and many others…
Hi. My name is Randy A Brown and I’m the administrator for Studies in Scripture.com. I attend the Church of Jesus Christ in Sweetwater, TN under Pastor James Larry Hughes. I’ve been involved with working in the Church for around 25 years. I am a Bible teacher, a writer, and I play guitar in Church. I have a bachelor’s degree in Management with a concentration in Information Technology from Kaplan University. My Bible studies range from the Greek texts, to archaeology, to well… just about anything to do with the Bible. My favorite subjects are the foundational doctrines.
This site will feature articles on all of the major doctrines. It will also include writings on various other subjects that affect the way we believe about God and the Bible. It will also include audio and video of some of our Church services. I hope to expand this site to include a podcast and a school.
The first set of articles will lay the foundation of this site. I will cover the basics and then expand into the details after that. Most of the articles will be written with the layman in mind. My goal is to write a scholarly work that is a worthy and credible source but keep it readable for the common Bible reader.
I primarily use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. It is my favorite and it’s in the public domain, so I don’t have to worry about any copyright issues. I will occasionally use the New King James (NKJV), the English Standard Version (ESV), the New American Standard (NAS), and the New International Version (NIV) for reference. I think it’s a good idea to know how others are reading and interpreting the Bible. My library includes many books, Bibles, and reference works.
My writing style is to use APA format (although I’ve modified it slightly for the Web). This is what I’ve used in my writings for the past five years and it’s what I’m used to. Over time I might slowly change my style to something more Web-worthy, but I also want the writings on this site to be printable and usable anywhere (including Sunday school and the pulpit).
I also enjoy Web development. I hope to develop my own magazine-style template for this site. Of course my first priority is producing content, so that might be a while.
I’ve added a feature to this site called “Daily Verse”. These verses are from my scripture memory list. They are doctrinal verses that every Apostolic should memorize.
I am adding affiliate links and an Amazon A-Store. Through the store and reviews I will recommend books for study. This does not mean that I agree with the author’s position. In many cases I disagree doctrinally. It just means that I consider it worthy of study.
