The Book of Revelation 20:12-13

The Book of Life

(Rev. 20:12-13 KJV) “12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.”

This is the judgement of all sinners. They are judged according to God’s Word and the record of their deeds. This even includes secret sins.

(Lk. 8:17 KJV) “17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.”

(Rom. 2:16 KJV) “16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”

Death and Hell refers to the holding place of all sinners when they die. They’re awaiting this judgement.

(Rev. 1:18 KJV) “18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

(Rev. 6:8 KJV) “8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”

Each person will be judged individually. God will even judge their motives and opportunities.

(Lk. 12:47-48 KJV) “47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”
