The Faithful Witness
“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,” (Rev 1:5 KJV)
Jesus is the faithful witness. He is faithful in all things. He was faithful even unto death.
The First Begotten
Jesus was the first begotten of the dead because he was the first to resurrect unto a new life. Others had raised from the dead, but they eventually went back to the grave. Jesus did not go back to the grave. In this way he was the firstborn.
“14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:”
(Col 1:14-15 KJV)
He was raised to never die again.
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.” (Rev 1:18 KJV)
