The Past, the Present, and the Future
“Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;” (Rev 1:19 KJV)
This is the simple outline of the book of Revelation.
- The things which thou hast seen – 1:1-19, the past the John was a part of; the risen Christ
- The things which are – 1:20-3:22, the present Church age before the second coming of Jesus
- The things which shall be hereafter – 4:1-22:21, after the Church age; the Tribulation begins
The primary purpose of Revelation is to reveal the future events concerning God’s wrath poured out on Israel – known as Daniel’s 70th week. Some of the future events include the Tribulation, Second Coming of Jesus, Battle of Armageddon, the Millennium Kingdom, and New Jerusalem.
