Open the Door
” Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (Rev 3:20 KJV)
This is not a call to the lost sinner. It is a message to the Church- people who are already saved. As we saw in previous verses, the Church of Laodicea had become lukewarm and not included Jesus in their Church services. They did not keep God in their minds. They thought they had no need of God. Jesus is again calling the church of Laodicea to repentance- to turn back to God and to allow Jesus to be a part of their lives. To ‘open the door’ of their hearts and devote their lives to God; to turn from their lukewarm state and be zealous for God’s work. This is what God wants from all of His people. He desires a renewed fellowship with us. He wants us to open the door- He doesn’t come in uninvited.
