Did God Forsake Jesus on the Cross?

Just before his death, Jesus asked:

Mat 27:46 KJV And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Did God really forsake Jesus just as he was giving his life as a sacrifice for the sins of the world? Does this verse prove a separation between the Father and the Son? Did God leave Jesus on the cross just before he died? Did the Father separate Himself from the Son?

The Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. It reminds us of the reason we have salvation- the gospel of Jesus Christ, his death, burial, and resurrection. The word ‘gospel’ means ‘good news’. This good news of the gospel is that Jesus died, was buried, and resurrected in order to provide salvation for us. Most teach about the good news but never tell what the good news is or why it is significant. Jesus died, was buried, and resurrected on the third day, but how is that good? How is his death burial and resurrection good news?

Repentance

Before we can be baptized in water in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins, before we can be filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, we must first repent of our sins. Repentance is more than repeating a prayer. Repentance is more than admitting to being a sinner. Repentance is more than a simple command. Repentance is part of salvation.
