Sodom and Egypt
“8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.”
(Rev 11:8-10 KJV)
The two witnesses will give their lives for the Word of God and they will be left in the streets because of the evil depravity and spiritual decay of the people. During this time the spiritual state of Jerusalem will be so evil that they are compared to Sodom and Egypt. They will commit a sacrilege and not give them a proper burial. All that dwell on the earth will rejoice over their deaths and make celebration by giving gifts. It is now possible for man to see across the face of the earth through satellite television. Global news coverage and the Internet make it possible for all that dwell on the earth to hear the news and celebrate. They are in such spiritual decay that they considered the preaching of God’s Word as tormenting.
