The Spirit of Prophecy
(Rev. 19:10 KJV) 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
John was so overwhelmed with what he saw that he fell down to worship the one showing him the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and the Bride of Christ. This shows the honesty of John’s writings. We are to only worship God.
The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy – prophecy is a message from God. It honors Him and sometimes reveals His plans. God uses prophecy to warn, inform, challenge, or encourage us. All true prophecy honors Christ, draws us closer to him, and reveals His work of restoring us to God.
Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy because everything about Jesus is prophetic – his birth, life, death, resurrection, atoning work, His Church, His Second Coming, Judgement, and our eternity with Him.
He’s also the one who gives the prophecy because He is the one true God, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, I Am, redeemer, Holy One of Israel, Everlasting Father, All the Fullness of the Godhead bodily, Creator, Alpha and Omega, First and Last, Beginning and End, which was, is, and is to come, the Almighty.
(Isa. 9:6 KJV) 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
(Col. 1:15-19 KJV) 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
(Col. 2:9-10 KJV) 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
(Rev. 1:8 KJV) 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
(Rev. 1:17-18 KJV) 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
(Rev. 21:5-7 KJV) 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
(Rev. 22:13 KJV) 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
