Thou Art Worthy
“9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
(Rev 4:9-11 KJV)
The heavenly scene shows us the purpose of Heaven – to praise God. Here we see the four beasts and the 24 elders worshiping God through giving glory, honor, thanks, worship, power, and casting their crowns before His throne. Why? Because He is the One that lives for ever and ever, showing that He is the eternal one, and the Creator of all things. God is completely worthy of our praise. All things were created for that purpose.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” (Psa 19:1 KJV)
“Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” (Isa 43:7 KJV)
“This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.” (Isa 43:21 KJV)
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” (Col 1:16 KJV)
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1Pe 2:9 KJV)
