Holiness Standards

Posted by on Nov 12, 2009 in Holiness

Holiness standards are universal and unchanging. They are built upon Biblical principles that define how we act, look, and sound.

Attitudes

Christians must have a Christ-like attitude toward others.

Galatians 5:19-23  19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Principles of Holiness and Christian Living

Posted by on Nov 9, 2009 in Holiness

God has given His people a call to be separate. He has given His people a call to be set apart from the world. He has given His people a call to be holy. In His Word, God gives us principles that guide our walk into holiness.

We are to place God first in our lives and put the cares of this world behind us.

Matthew 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Prayer

A holy life requires daily prayer. God expects us to have a daily prayer life. Through prayer we receive strength and Spiritual guidance from God.

Introduction to Holiness

Posted by on Nov 7, 2009 in Holiness

Holiness is a part of our daily walk with God. It is just as essential as knowing who our God is and how to be saved.

Hebrews 12:14  Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

We are to be holy because God is holy.

1 Peter 1:15-16  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;  16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

What is holiness? Holiness is a separation from sin and a dedication to God (Bernard, p. 32).

Romans 12:1-2  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
