The Sword of My Mouth
“Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.” (Rev 2:16 KJV)
Jesus commands the Church of Pergamos to repent or face judgment. Jesus is in opposition with those that tolerate sin. He will wage war against those that live immoral lives and will not repent. The sword of His mouth, the sword that He fights with, is His Word. It is the same sword from verse 12:
“These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;” (Rev 2:12b KJV)
The Church is expected to fight against false doctrine rather than embrace it as the Church of Pergamos did.
