Space to Repent

“And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.” (Rev 2:21 KJV)

God is just. He will punish those that break His commands. Before He pronounces judgment however, He gives us time to come to repentance.

Thou Sufferest Jezebel

“Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.” (Rev 2:20 KJV)

The Church of Thyatira tolerated sin. So much so that they allowed a sinful leader to teach and seduce the people to commit fornication and partake of idolatry.

Jesus commends the Church of Thyatira on their good works.

The Church of Thyatira

“And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write;” (Rev 2:18a KJV)

Thyatira was 30 miles southeast of Pergamos. Its trade guilds were devoted to false gods or goddesses. Christians were persecuted for not participating in their pagan worship.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna,” (Rev 2:17a KJV)

The hidden manna is the food and work of the spiritual life. Jesus was referring to ‘spiritual food’.
