Many times when things don’t go our way resentment can build up over time. This can cause us to become bitter over certain situations. Bitterness toward others causes us to be harsh, sharp, and resentful. It causes us to speak harshly to others and to be negative. It causes us to have a bad attitude toward others.

Having love toward one another brings forgiveness. Forgiveness sometimes means we bare the burden of other’s mistakes. It sometimes means letting go of a situation even when you’re in the right. It means not having to win every argument.

Attitudes – Love

The first most basic attitude is love. Jesus includes loving God with the first commandment, and loving others as the second commandment:

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?  37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  38 This is the first and great commandment.  39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”  (Mat 22:36-40 KJV)

Attitudes build the foundation of our walk with God. We are judged by our attitudes. This is the inward holiness that everyone sees. Our outward holiness is developed from our inward attitude. Our inward attitude governs our actions and allows us to conform to God’s Word. Holiness begins with a proper attitude.

John’s Baptism

The baptism of John… was it from heaven or of men? Jesus asked this question when he was being questioned by the chief priests and the elders in the temple. They made the decision not to answer because if they said it from God they would be required to be baptized, and if they said it was from man they feared what the people would do. Jesus never gave them the answer. What was the purpose of John’s baptism?
