Fear Not
“And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not;” (Rev 1:17a KJV)
The appearance of Jesus was so strong and glorious that John fell at His feet as if he were dead; but Jesus tells him not to fear. There’s nothing to be afraid of when Jesus takes care of us.
The First and the Last
“I am the first and the last:” (Rev 1:17b KJV)
The fact that Jesus is the first and the last proves that He is God. Only God is the first and the last.
“Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.” (Isa 41:4 KJV)
“Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” (Isa 44:6 KJV)
“Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.” (Isa 48:12 KJV)
