The Book of Revelation 3:17

Rich and Poor

“Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:” (Rev 3:17 KJV)

The Church of Laodicea was more concerned about their material possessions than to do the will of God. They were proud of their riches and success and acted like it would continue on forever. They believed their success proved they were righteous. They were out of the will of God. They were sinful. They did not know that God considered them wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. These things are the opposite of success. No matter what they thought they had, without God they were not successful. The same goes for us. Without God we are poor.
