The Book of Revelation 6:17

The Great Day

“For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” (Rev 6:17 KJV)

In the sixth seal it will evident to all those on Earth that these events are the wrath of God. John shows that no one can escape from God’s wrath. The Great Day is synonymous with Day of the LORD and was prophesied by many of the Old Testament prophets.

9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.”

(Isa 13:9-13 KJV)

“Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.” (Joe 1:15 KJV)

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” (Joe 2:31 KJV)

“Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.” (Amo 5:18 KJV)

14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,”

(Zep 1:14-15 KJV)
